This year’s harvest was completed with normal temperatures, so the weather conditions allowed, in general, a good development of the vines.
Ripening was favoured by the absence of rainfall since the beginning of September and the diurnal temperature swing was high, as normal for this area, favouring a calm maturation despite some periods with heatwaves.
The grapes arrived with an ideal ripeness and a perfect state of health for its vinification.

Description
Grape Varieties:
Tempranillo 95% and Merlot 5%.
Wine made from exceptional selection of Tempranillo grapes from 33 specially choosen rows in our three pagos “La Marquesa”, “La Travesaña” and “La Marota” in Quintana del Pidio with addition of Merlot grapes from the Valdepalacios estate, in Anguix. All the vineyards are found at an altitude between 820-845 m, where pebbles and sandy-loam soil predominate. The age of the vine is 40 yrs old for the Tempranillo and 20 yrs old for the Merlot.
Maturation:
Aged for 16 months in American (25%) and French (75%) oak barrels, – new, and second and third year.-
Appearance:
Its striking ruby colour with purple hues stands out, brilliant and deep.
On the nose:
Intense, well defined and complex aromas of mature red and black cherry, plum, blackberry with emerging spices, like clove and
vanilla and toasted bread from the barrel maturation.
On the palate:
The wine is full bodied, expressive, fresh and intense, with firm and soft tannins and an attractive balance between its aromatic intensity, freshness and body. It is a long, persistent and elegant wine that invites for more.
